Making the most of your floral budget

When we first sit down with our clients we ask that they come prepared with a firm idea of their floral budget to help us in the planning process and we find that many of our couples struggle to determine how their funds should be allocated. There are so many directions that you can go, but whatever the budget, we always encourage our clients to focus on these three key areas:

I once had a client say, “why should I spend so much on something that I will only be carrying for 10 minutes?” My heart was broken temporarily when I heard that. The reason I would suggest putting a lot behind the bridal bouquet is because it is undoubtedly the star of the show. It doesn’t matter who your florist is, when they are beginning to put together the bridal bouquet, they will have already selected the best flowers from your bunch to put into that special bouquet. It is one of the most photographed and high profile floral moments of the entire day. It is seen by every guest as you walk down the aisle. It will be in the majority of your photographs, particularly all of your portraits, and stands out as a piece of art in its own right.

11. The Head Table

Let’s be candid for a moment. The photographer isn’t going to have the time to get pictures of each and every table at the reception (and really, do you want them in your wedding album?) They will, however, absolutely capture the table set for the bride and groom. This is a major opportunity for strong florals and decor as it is very likely the focal piece of the entire reception. As such, it is key that it is executed perfectly. It’s a celebration, so this moment should feel indulgent and extra special.

This could be in the form of a gorgeous chuppah for the ceremony or a floral arch at the entrance, but every wedding needs that extra special moment. It’s also a wonderful place for formal portraits as it sets the stage perfectly. An instillation doesn’t have to break the budget in order to be extra special. There is a lot to be said for a minimalist and organic moment that is thoughtfully designed. With that in mind, and stunning instillation can be a place for an extravagant, over the top floral moment for your big day.
